Food4Heroes founders receive Point of Light award.

John Brownhill and Amanda Guest, the brother and sister team behind Food4Heroes, have been given a Point of Light award. The award recognises outstanding individual volunteers – people who are making a change in their community.

In a 13-week period during the first wave of COVID-19 Food4Heroes raised £407,000, providing 230,000 meals to frontline NHS staff.

In a personal letter to Amanda, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said:

“On behalf of the whole country, I want to thank you for setting up the fantastic ‘Food4Heroes’ initiative which has fed hundreds of thousands of NHS workers.

“Using your catering talents, you have found a superbly practical way to thank our NHS staff. Together with John, you have turned a brilliant idea into a national platform and I wish you every success as you continue your work.”

The duo has now adapted their successful model to provide meals to foodbanks to support those individuals who are struggling to feed themselves or their families.
