Weetabix has partnered with Food4Heroes to deliver Christmas dinners to people in need in Northamptonshire. Over 100 volunteers from food charity SOFEA kindly turned out in torrential rain on Wednesday 23rd December to deliver the meals following a briefing at Roade Bowling Club. A representative from a women’s refuge who received meals said ” The meals were lovely and the residents really enjoyed them”. The meals consisted of a full turkey dinner with fresh vegetables and an alternative vegetarian option prepared by Kettering based caterer Portfolio Events. Food4Heroes Co-Founder John Brownhill said ” without the financial support of Weetabix and its employees, the amazing team from SOFEA and the tasty food from Portfolio, the success of this event would not have been possible” Food4Heroes is looking to continue working with SOFEA and to establish partnerships with other similar food charities in 2021.

“I’m a single mum with 2 children with special needs and had a family funeral to pay for just before Christmas, so was really struggling for money and was worried that I wouldn’t be able to afford the costs of buying ingredients for a Christmas dinner. You made this happen with the added luxury of it being prepared and cooked with easy to follow instructions of how to reheat. May I say it was a delicious dinner better than I probably would have been able to cook and I didn’t need to stand in the kitchen all morning and was able to spend quality time with my children on Christmas Day. You all made our Christmas a very special one”
